Q. Who is Xcential? - Back to top
A. We are a small software company based out of Encinitas, California - just north of San Diego. In addition to operating this website, we also provide software and services directly to state legislatures. Our software and services include XML schema design, conversion services, authoring tools, publishing tools, and custom software development.
Q. How does Xcential acquire the data shown on LegisWeb.com?- Back to top
A. Xcential uses the public information found on the California Legislature's information portal at http://leginfo.ca.gov, the video feeds provided by The California Channel at http://www.calchannel.com, and news articles provided by Capitol Weekly at http://www.capitolweekly.net. We have written our own converters to interpret the information we retrieve and prepare it for use on this website. We do not have access to any private information within the State Legislature.
Q. How up-to-date is the information?- Back to top
A. That depends on how frequently the California Legislative Portal or our other information sources are updated. Typically the information at the California Legislative Portal is updated nightly and we retrieve the latest updates in the early hours of the morning or we access the information as we need it. However, some files provided by the California Legislature are updated less frequently than daily. We always strive to retrieve these updates within a few hours of them being made public.
Q. Can I get access to the converters or use the raw data?- Back to top
A. We are interested in finding partners and are willing to discuss this topic. Please contact us at bizdev@legisweb.com.
Q. Can I link to a document on this site?- Back to top
A. Yes, of course you may, as long as you are reasonable about doing it. Please do not link to every document on our site or otherwise abuse this privilege.
Q. Can I copy the information on LegisWeb.com for use on my own website or service?- Back to top
A. Not without our permission in writing. Please use the public information provided directly by the California Legislature at http://leginfo.ca.gov for this purpose.
Q. Can I use the results of the search engine on my site?- Back to top
A. Yes you may. In fact, we can provide the results as ATOM newsreader feeds to make this easy for you! Simply add '&format=atom' to the URL of any LegisWeb Search result to get an ATOM representation in XML. If you would like more info, please contact us at bizdev@legisweb.com.
Q. Cool, but how about embedding your LegisWeb search engine on my site?- Back to top
A. Once again, we are interested in finding partners and are willing to discuss this topic. Please contact us at bizdev@legisweb.com.
